EPA’s Attack on Coal Hits Electricity Bills

The Heritage Foundation -- The U.S. coal industry is facing a grim outlook in 2012, and the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) pollution rules are one big reason.
The Mercury and Air Toxics Standards and the Cross-State Air Pollution Rule have contributed to the premature shutdown of several coal plants and the idling of coal mines across the country. The EPA’s attack on coal is sending electricity bills skyrocketing as more expensive sources of energy take coal’s place. While anti-coal protestors cheer, American families are paying the price.
Alpha Natural Resources, a major Appalachian coal producer, announced plans to lower coal production last Friday as demand for coal by electric utilities is dropping:

You union coal miners need to take a good look at who's hurting you... your union bosses and their unreasonable support for the eco-socialist in the White House.

Mercury and many other toxic substances released by coal fired generations should be and must be regulated. These are proven toxins. The blowing up of mountain tops to mine coal must also be stopped. This has nothing to do with politics. It is health and safety.

Obama's War on Carbon is probably the most important reason for surging inflation in the USA.

They should convert the plants to cheaper fuels one at a time. Not all at once.

And who gets the blame for the higher bill? you guessed it, the electric company! When our rates have to go up to make up for the increased costs, most consumers don't have a clue as to why.

The EPA is completely out of control. The worst part is electric companies are now burning OIL to produce power, which is more expensive and causes gasoline prices to go up. So it's a triple whammy. Higher utility bills, Higher Gasoline prices, and exporting our money to buy the oil from terrorists (and friends), which lowers the value of the dollar.

We need to vote in people who will real in the EPA's power, and protect us from over regulation.

There are lots of "flares" across the plain in Oklahoma...something I havn't seen in 50 years as excess natural gas is simply set on fire. Sometimes they can't shut in the gas without killing a big oil well so they get a permit from the gov to burn it. Sometimes there is no pipeline to carry the gas to market..yet.

This why big government is not our friend.
May it is because I remember what is was like in the 1960s and yet we are acording the big government still ugly, evil polluters.
All this regulation has been the cause of higher energy costs but it just never stops and keeps costing more and more. This attack on the coal industry will devistating when well get our eletric bills. he cost of everything will go up because of it. Are you ready for another 10% hike in prices.

The EPA is out of control.
It is time for a change.
Smaller government means freedom.

NoBama 2012 is a great place to start.
